About the role

Imperial War Museums (IWM) are recruiting to the new role of user experience analyst. You will use your UX expertise to develop great user experience across our existing and new digital developments. 

Reporting to our user experience manager you will work across a range of digital projects from small to large to shape and deliver great user experience. You will work as part of a small digital team covering content, insight and development, and alongside the digital agencies responsible for delivering digital developments and as we embark on a five-year digital investment programme.

You will be confident across the following: running workshops with colleagues to define project and product objectives and map out user journeys; documenting these as functional requirements, in user maps, wireframes and using other UX tools; and guiding the delivery of UX development whether through our in-house developer or from our external agencies.

You will work from the small to the large, working on AB testing of variations for call-to-action buttons one day, developing new areas of the website the next, and helping design the entire user experience of a new digtal product the next. You will take a leading role in managing our internal development tasks and day-to-day delivery of these.

You must have demonstrable experience of UX development in an in-house or agency role.

At least three years’ experience working in user experience design for digital products

Familiarity with responsive UX design, information architecture and user journey mapping.

Experience using a range of tools to create and communicate user experience design including user journey maps, wireframes and prototypes

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Strong IT skills including use of Content Management Systems, databases and Microsoft Office including MS Project

An understanding of current web standards for accessibility and functionality

Practical experience of agile project delivery

Managing stakeholders with conflicting priorities at different levels across an organisation

An understanding of current and emergent web technologies

Skills and experience of producing and using detailed project documentation, including Gantt charts, workflows, budgets and schedules.

Experience of using evaluation metrics and analytics tools such as Google Analytics

Demonstrable interest in the museum’s subject matter
